Going to be out of town for a couple of days and thought I’d give you a quick taste of what you can expect here in Ocean City, MD. this weekend.

Springfest is coming to O.C. on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 1, 2, 3, and 4. This is one of our major events of the year and celebrates the kickoff of our season. Four full days of fun, food and entertainment. We expect close to 200,000 people to visit our city over the 4 days.

The event, traditionally at the inlet parking lot, will have 4 big top tents (2 craft, 1 food and 1 entertainment), an outdoor entertainment stage as well as refreshment  tents.

There will be almost non stop musical acts, indoor and outdoor. The headliners this year will be “Beatlemania” on Thursday night, “Emerson Drive” on Friday and “Three Dog Night” on Saturday. Each of these shows are at 8 pm and require tickets to enter. There will be many non ticket shows throughout the weekend so come and enjoy the fun. I’ll fill you in later on the rest of the entertainment lineup.
There will also be food vendors that will be serving up specialties to satisfy almost every appetite and the O.C. Fire Company will, of course, be selling their famous oyster fritters.  I can’t wait.

Don’t forget to visit the Makai Condominium while in town and say “hey”. The staff there are always happy to greet you and provide personal tours of the building.

Since this will be an especially busy weekend, traffic will be heavy. Please drive carefully and remember to cross at market crosswalks only.

I’ll fill you in later on the rest of the entertainment lineup.

A Good Day At The Beach

Filed under: ocean city condo, Uncategorized — admin @ 4:55 pm

If a bad day at the beach is better than a good day at work, what is a good day at the beach? I do know one thing for sure, today is a perfect day in Ocean City, Maryland. Although we can always find some sort of activity here in O.C. today seems to be the day for catching rays on our white sandy beaches or just strolling our 2.5 mile boardwalk. This is how I picture a Spring day to be. If you haven’t arrived, there is still plenty of time to come and enjoy the rest of this weekend. Of course, this is just the beginning.

For the crab lovers, this is a good day for banging crabs on the deck of your favorite Ocean City crab house and there are many selling the meaty crustaceons this weekend. For all  other diners, almost every restaurant  in town is open for business.

The blue fish are making a pretty good run and the fisherman are out en mass.  Flounder are also starting to show up. Be sure to check size and bag limits before you begin to haul them in.

Activity at the Makai Condominium has been pretty good. Folks just can’t believe that there are new condo’s out there  for under $200,000. If you haven’t stopped by the Makai, you should make it a point to do so the next time you are in town. You can also do some previewing by going to the web site at www.makaicondos.com.  You will find some geat virtual tours along with availability and pricing.

When in O.C. be sure to drive carefully and cross at designated cross walks only.

Have a great weekend.

Back From The Masters

Filed under: ocean city condo, Uncategorized — admin @ 10:32 pm

Well, it was a whirlwind 4 days with almost non stop excitement. I arrived in Augusta on Friday afternoon, picked up my rental car and promptly got lost getting to my hotel. I did however manage to get a good nights sleep and an early rise on Saturday and my first day on the course (you got Saturday’s play by play).

Sunday was a much better day with sunny skies, temps in the 60’s and winds that were to get much worse as the day progressed. You can’t really appreciate the effect the wind has on the flight of the ball until you experience the gusting, especially at “Amen Corner” (11, 12 and 13).

I parked my chair at the 18th green but did not sit all day. Just too much of the course to see and my last chance, perhaps, to see the pro’s  play at the Masters. You do, or at least I did, get some excitement seeing all the players up close. I can say that even with the rain on Saturday there was not a disappointing minute for me. Given the opportunity, I will go back to Augusta. How easy the game appears watching the pro’s play. I Don’t know what the big deal is with the game, I expect to drop at least  10 strokes off my score the next time out which should take me down to, let’s say, 100 + or - minus a couple.

I just hope that I didn’t forget anyone when my box arrives from the golf store.  There is so much “Masters” stuff and everyone in such a buying frenzy that one just can’t wait to get their turn to spend.

Flight home was uneventful except for my luggage not arriving in Salisbury the same time I did. It was, however, delivered safe and sound to me this morning.

A tiring but rewarding weekend but with that now behind me, I’m back to the daily grind and again time to promote the Makai. The staff there told me that they had a busy weekend with many excited, potential buyers turning out to tour the bay front building. Everyone seems to love the amenity package, especially when the weather is nasty and nothing to do on the outside. I do believe that if you tour the web-site www.makaicondos.com and view the virtual tour of the project you will see what they mean.

I do appreciate any and all feedback I receive from the readers of this blog. I look forward to hearing from you.

I hope you all have a great day, drive carefully and remember to cross at marked crosswalks only.

Boy have we had a mixed bag of weather here at Augusta today. Started off warm (mid 70’s) and overcast,  changed to  cloudy and cool, then to rain. then to strong winds and thunder storms.  They even  sounded the horn to stop play for about 45 minutes. Not the best day for the Masters.  Fortunately I did buy an umbrella  before I hit the course but still got wet.

It was however everything I expected the Masters to be. Some great golf, an opportunity to see the players up close and of course I got a good workout sloshing through the mud. Today was a bit more tiring than playing a round. At least I would be riding.

Augusta is not the kind of town to bring a non golf enthusiast to. Not many things to do except get lost going from one place to another. I will make the best out of tomorrow for the final round. I plan to spend more time sitting and less time walking the course. I discovered late this afternoon that one can enjoy a golf tournament just as much or more by finding a good spot and planting ones self. That way you get to see all the payers without moving.

Most of you  probably watched the 3rd round on T.V. today so I wont bore you with the play by play. Tomorrow should prove to be quite challenging. The weather is slated to be cool, low to mid 60’s. That would be great for Ocean City wouldn’t it?  The good news? No rain, I hope. Don’t forget to tune in.

I think I am about ready to sign off and prepare for tomorrow by getting a good nights sleep.

Don’t forget to drive carefully and cross at market crosswalks only.

Well, here we are again with an Ocean City update. Although there is always plenty to do at the beach, even on bad days, this weekend is going to be somewhat quiet from the major activity standpoint. The only scheduled event is the “O.C. Half Marathon” which consists of a 5K and 13.1 mile runs or walks if you prefer. I don’t think that awards will be given to walkers. The 5K starts at 7 am at the Ocean City Inlet parking lot (near Thrashers Fries) and the 13.1 miler starts at 7:45 am at the Route 50 park and ride in West Ocean City. This is a great spectator sport for me.

I was sent a very interesting article the other day found in the latest edition of “Retirement Magazine”. The title “8 Coastal Gems For Condo Living” contained 5 pages of very interesting reading. The article, written by Mary Bergin, of course showcased Ocean City as one of those gems. She alludes to the easy commute from the surrounding States, growing from one of the smallest cities to the 2nd largest city during our summer season, our pristine sandy beaches, proximity to Assateague Island and our 15 + golf courses just minutes from the beach. She even quotes Angela and Jerome Krause who retired to O.C. in 1997. I can’t forget to mention that she stated our beach patrol are among the best on the East Coast. My only disagreement, I think they are the best in the country. Try to read the entire article if you can find it. Ocean City is a Gem of a place to live and there is no better time for all those O.C. local wantabes to take the plunge.

Prices have declined the past 1 to 2 years and there is plenty of “for sale” inventory compared to this time in “06″. I think sellers are also a bit more inclined to negotiate (at least a bit) than they were in “06″. Get out there and start looking. Interest rates can’t get much lower and we can’t predict when the bottom will hit.

Still one of the better buys in O.C. is the Makai Condominium at 4201 Coastal and the bay. The building is open for tours daily and the prices are perfect, not to mention that the amenity package is the 7th or 8th best on the beach. Stop in to preview the fully furnished models, the billiards room, fitness center, sauna, children’s arcade, T.V. lounge and, let’s not forget the Indoor bay front tropical pool. I think I got most of it in.

Did I forget to say that I am writing this blog from Augusta Georgia? That’s right, home of THE “Masters Golf Tournament”. I arrived this afternoon and will depart on Monday, back to the beach. My package is for Saturday and Sunday on the course and includes many “bennies”. I have to thank my Wife Gloria for a great birthday present. THANKS GLORIA! I’ll try to give an update tomorrow as I see it from the course. As of now, with 36 holes done, Tiger is at -1 and Phil, -5. More tomorrow.

In the event you are in Ocean City this weekend, please drive carefully and remember to cross at marked cross walks only.

I’ve heard it said that “a bad day at the beach is better than a good day at home”. I guess it all depends on how bad things are at home. This past weekend in Ocean City was not one to remember. It was cold, wet and windy. Certainly not your normal enjoy the beach and boardwalk type of weekend.

The weekend did have its bright spot, being the “Reach The Beach All Star Internationals”. The competition brought out teams of cheer leaders and dancers from 6 States and the District of Columbia. There were so many people in town for the event that parking was non existent within blocks of the Convention. I’m sure the food service industry did well with all the young competitors working up big appetites.

Weather predictions for this week don’t appear to be that much better with overcast skies and some rain in the forecast. As long as we see clearing and warm temps for the weeks end and into the weekend (especially in Georgia). I’ll be going to Augusta on Friday to catch the “Master’s” (a birthday present from my wife). I’ll try to share my experience as I walk the Hallowed grounds of Augusta National and watch the greatest in the game play and compete for the “Green Jacket”.

Now back to Ocean City. In spite of the nasty weather, the Makai Condominium at 42nd Street and the bay had a very good turnout of prospective buyer’s. There were at least 32 couples viewing the models over the two days with most being very impressed with what they saw. Feedback was very positive, from “lovely models”, “great prices”, “”terrific amenity package “love the views”, etc. If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to see the Makai you should make it a point to stop by the next time you are in the area for a personal tour of the finished product. In the event you wont be coming to the beach soon, go the the web-site at www.makaicondos.com for picture galleries, virtual tours, availability, pricing and more. You can also call me at 603-2205 (please not Saturday or Sunday, telephones are not allowed on the golf course).

If you are currently in town or plan to come, please drive carefully and remember to cross at market crosswalks only.

Spring is finally here and warm weather just around the corner. Being a fair weather person myself, I can’t wait.

Sort of cool and cloudy today, with a chance a showers later. Looks like mid 60’s on Friday, 60 on Saturday and sunny and 55 on Sunday. Much more desirable than the low 30’s.

This weekend at the Ocean City Convention Center (40th St. and the bay) the “Reach The Beach All Star Internationals” will be competing for honors and awards. This is one of the largest Cheerleading and dance competitions in the country, featuring “All Star” and College competitors. If you are interested in cheering and dance, you wont want to miss this event. Hours for the competition are: Friday 4/4, 4:00-9:00p, Saturday, 4/5, 7:30a-11:00p and Sunday 4/6, 7:30a-11:00p. Hope to see you there.

Before visiting or after leaving the Convention Center, stop by and take a look at the Makai condominum next door at 4201 Coastal Hwy. The Mkai is a new bay front 96 unit condominium with one of the best amenity packages at the beach. Prices are from $199,400 to $450,000 and come fully and tastefully furnished. Granite counter tops, ceramic tile flooring, storage lockers and ocean and/or bay views are also featured. Amenities include, indoor bay front tropical pool, fitness center with sauna, billiards room, children’s arcade, activity room and T.V. lounge. Never a bad day in Ocean City at the Makai. You owe it to yourself to take a look. Models open daily.

Have a great time this weekend and remember to cross at marked crosswalks only

Another great day here on DELMARVA and Ocean City. Sunny, windy some much needed rain and even some fog came our way. A real mixed bag of weather.

The crews are working frantically to get the debris from the Dough Roller fire cleaned up on the boardwalk. Should be pretty much cleared by the weekend. We don’t need any more of this kind of excitement for a while, if ever.

We’re seeing a few out of towners in town looking to purchase their dream 2nd home or beach get-a-way. There is certainly a large inventory of properties available for every appetite.

Of course I am going to invite all prospective purchasers to at least stop by and give the Makai Condominum a look. You will find some of the least expensive new construction with the best amenity package in town.

The Makai is now open with model tours conducted daily. In the event you don’t know where the Makai is, it is located at 4201 Coastal Hwy, just next door to the Ocean City Convention Center. You owe it to yourself to take a look, if you are looking to buy.

When in O.C. please enjoy your stay and be sure to cross at marked cross walks only.
