Well, here we are again going into our second season at the beach and it doesn’t appear that things have slowed down much at all. Just enough traffic to keep you on your toes, so be careful when out and about.

Weather is absolutely perfect today and should be sunny and into the mid 70’s until, and perhaps beyond Thursday. Can’t ask for much better than that. Plenty of rays for the sun worshipers, warm water for swimming and surfing, we’re having a great fish run and there are plenty of activities to suit everyone.

The “Wine Fest On The Beach” is going on until 7 pm tonight featuring Wineries from the Mid-Atlantic Region, Regional Micro Breweries, delicious Delmarva Cuisine and quality Arts and Crafts. You can also enjoy live entertainment with “Bird Dog and the Road Kings”, “Three Penny Opera”, and “The Pat O’Brennan Trio”. Now that’s entertainment! Identification required for the “Wine Fest”.

Paving has begun on Coastal Hwy and will continue through December. Phase one has started with the North bound lanes from 26th St. to 60th St. Please follow directinal signs in construction lanes. Our goal is to make your driving in Ocean City as comfortable as possible.

Next weekend appears to be on track for some super activities beginning with The 10th annual “Endless Summer Cruisin, 2007″ Car Show. The show will run from Thursday, Oct 4 through Sunday, Oct 7 with most activities downtown at the inlet parking lot. If you are into sportsters and roadsters, you wont want to miss this one.

The 26th annual “Octoberfest” and “Arts and Craft Fair” Will be at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center on October 5 from 11:30 am till 11:30 pm, October 6 from 11:00 am till 11:30 pm and October 7, from 11:00 am till 4:00 pm. Non-stop entertainment (German music of course), mouth watering German food, beverages and dance contests are on tap. There will also be a “Knockwurst” eating contest on Sunday at 1:30. Bring your appetite and dig in if you dare.

Assateague Island is another spot that should be on your “must do” list, especially this time of year. Fewer crowds on the white sandy beaches, better fishing from the surf, great shell hunting and of course the wild Assateague Ponies. A trip to the Island would not be complete without taking home a roll of photo’s of the wild, free roaming ponies. Although wild, they are always looking for that free handout. I must warn you however that feeding the ponies is not allowed and they will bite. Besides the ponies you will also see many timid Sikka Deer walking about. You can also find canoing and kayaking tours and other outdoor activities on the Island. Just follow the signs and/or the Island maps provided by the Park Rangers

One of the top benefits of the year will be held at Seacrets on Friday, October 5 from 6:00 pm till 10:00 pm. The Theme this year is “S.O.S”, “Shipwrecked On Seacrets” ‘ or “Support Our Services”. All proceeds will benefit “THE WELLNESS COMMUNITY OF DELMARVA”, a non profit agency that provides services, free of charge, for people affected by cancer. Tickets are currently available for $75.00 and can be reserved by calling 410-546-1200 or Kendall Home Furnishings at 410-213-2520. Ticket entitles the holder to an unforgettable evening of fun, unlimited food and beverages and entertainment by “jah works”. There will also be live and silent auctions, a treasure chest raffle and a chance to win a $15,000. room makeover donated by Joe Kendall, owner of Kendall Home Furnishings. Joe has always been a great supporter of this project. Best of all, your donation will go 100% to a good and worthy cause.

The Ocean City Lions Club will be hosting the 2nd annual “Support our Wounded Troops” Golf Tournament on Wednesday, October 3 to be held at the Ocean City Golf and Yacht Club. Although too late to enter a foursome, you can still donate a door prize by calling 410-603-2205. All proceeds ( 100%) will be sent or taken to the U.S. Army Regional Hospital in Landstuhl Germany and used to make the lives of our wounded heroes much more comfortable. All donations are 100% tax deductible. For more information on how you can help in the future, please call the above number.

As always I can’t quit without plugging the Makai Condominium (lowest priced new construction in Ocean City, MD.). Construction is coming along nicely and the building should be ready for move in towards the end of November. All of the furniture and equipment for the amenity floor (execize equipment, billiards tables, pool furniture, arcade games and general furniture) is already delivered or on order. We still are unable to get into the building with pedestrian traffic because of the site work (parking area) and some work going on in the building but I will keep you posted when we can again gain access. For the time, we are taking “Letters of Reservation” with a $1,000. fully refundable deposit. That will allow the Purchaser to reserve the unit desired at todays price with no obligation until the models can be previewed. We are about 1/3rd sold with many folks just waiting to see the models. Call 410-603-2205 or go to www.makaicondos.com for more information and virtual tours of the models. This is a building you will want to see, and the wait will be worth it.
Time to go again and as always. when visiting Ocean City, please drive carefully and cross only at marked crosswalks.

Well, here we are again, celebrating the “Grand Finale” of our summer season, SUNFEST. These next four days will see over 1/4 million people pouring into town for that last chance to enjoy our warm ocean waters, white sandy beaches, the boardwalk strolls, seafood and the many activities available at the Ocean City inlet parking lot.

There we will find four big top tents that will provide shelter for artists and crafters displaying and selling their wares, a food tent providing mouth watering delicasys and a 2500 seat entertainment tent that will provide almost non stop entertainment. Some of the performances require paid admission while many others are free.

There will also be many outside activities including a stage where you can enjoy free entertainment provided by many popular groups. Some of the free entertainment will be, The Zim Zimerel Orchestra, Randy Lee Ashcraft and The Salt Water Cowboys, FAB BAND, Frank and Trish, The Diamonds (Little Darling), Teenage Rust, Sir Rod, The Beach Bumz, Rising Sun Ragae Band, Mary Lou and The Untouchables, J. R. Booker, Frankie and The Pack, Stone Cold Country, Jessie Garrons Tribute to Elvis and many more.

Ticket required shows are Wayne Newton (sold out), Josh Gracin and Heartland and The Fabulous Hubcaps. Although you probably wont get the chance to see Wayne Newton unless you are one of the lucky ones with a ticket, you can still hear his performance from outside the entertainment tent.

The town again has gone way out to make this event one of the best ever. Sun Fest is consistently rated in the top 100 events of the year in the U.S. Whether you take a day trip to Ocean City, Maryland or come for the entire 4 day celebration, you are sure to leave with many fond memories of a very exciting visit.

Of course, you should not leave our town without first stopping by the Makai Condominium at 4201 Coastal Hwy and have one of their professional Salespersons tell you about this exciting new bay front project. Not only is the location great, (next to the Ocean City Convention Center) but they sport the lowest pricing for new construction the finest amenity package available to include indoor bay front tropical pool, activity room, children’s arcade, T.V. lounge, billiards room, state of the art fitness center with sauna and much more. The units are sold fully furnished, granite counter tops, ceramic tile floors, storage lockers and of course the bay and/or ocean views. You owe it to yourself to at least take a look.

Please drive carefully when coming to O.C. and remember to cross at marked crosswalks only. Have a safe and enjoyable weekend.

Did I mis-call our weather for the next 5 days or what? Yesterday early, our experts predicted sunny or partly sunny weather through Friday with rain on Thursday. It now appears that Monday through Friday will provide rain or at least overcast skies. Today, however,  is perfect and the boaters, fishermen  (and women) and beach goers are out in force.

With all the not so good weather for  the above activities (we do need the rain)  on the chart, the coming weekend should be great (fingers crossed).

Hope you all have a great Sunday and enjoy the weather, football or whatever and be safe.

What terrific weather we’ve had this past week. Perfect time for that Ocean City vacation. The next 5 days appear to be heading in the same direction, mid 80’s, sunny or partly sunny with possible rain on Thursday. That is, if that storm out there don,t turn our way.

It has been a very good year for the O.C. business community with nearly record vacationers. The Labor Day Weekend alone brought over 275,000 folks to our little piece of paradise who enjoyed free concerts and other activities. Many, however, just came to get the last chance to lay back and worship the sun. All is not lost because there is still plenty of time to enjoy our second season with many activities planned in September alone.

September 11, The 3rd Annual Red Knights Boardwalk Parade will start at 11:30 a.m. on the Boardwalk at 27th St. and will cruise the boards to Division St. for a Memorial Service at the Firefighters Memorial.

September 13-16 is Delmarva Bike Week with over 100,000 bikers expected for the 4 day extravaganza. If you are into motorcycles, this is one event you will not want to miss. No need to show up with your moped because this event is for manly bikes only.

September 15, The Maryland Coastal Bays Program will host the 11th Annual Maryland Coast Day from 11-4 at Assateague State Park This event brings over 3,000 visitors each year for this one day event.

September 21-23 is the Grandaddy of them all wit visitorsh the inlet parking lot being the site for our traditional start of the O.C. second season. Sunfest continues to bring 250,000 +/- visitors to our resort. There is something for everyone with 2 big top craft tents, a food tent and an entertainment tent and outside stage. I will hi-lite the entertainment in my next edition. One thing is for sure, Wayne Newton is SOLD OUT!

The Makai is getting closer to completion. We should have the pool and billiards room finished and furnished by the end of the month and settlements are still on track for mid November. In the event you haven’t already, take a look at my web-site at www.makaicondos.com and see what the lowest priced new construction in Ocean City looks like. You will be surprised.

Again, when in Ocean City, swim near a lifeguaard and cross at marked crosswalks only.

Well, here we are, the beginning of September with only 20 days of Summer remaining. Our Children are back (or will be shortly) in School  and many of us already planning next years vacation. My how time flies. All is not lost, however, because there is still many days of sunshine and warm weather left to enjoy here at the beach. Air temps for the next 5 days are to be in the mid 80’s with sunny skies.

Our daily fishing reporter is telling us to gear up for an outstanding run of many species these upcoming days and months. September, October and November are the favorite time of year for us folks that call Ocean City our permanent home. This is what we wait all year for.

Fishing, sailing/boating, golfing or whatever we hanker to do is now upon us. These next three months, however, are not reserved for locals only.  Those with no School Children at home take this time of year for their vacations. As I stated in an earlier article, the water temp is at a high, beaches and boardwalk less  crowded, no or very little waiting at our favorite restaurants,  prices seem to decline just a bit and of course the traffic is so much easier to handle. Why would anyone that can, not want to come to O.C. to enjoy our 8 miles of  of paradise this time of year?

Don’t forget the Makai. We still expect settlements to occur early to mid November.  You must make a visit to our Site while in Ocean City and see the lowest priced condos with the best amenity package at the beach.  The owners have instructed me to announce that they will pay the first six months of condo fees for settlements conducted prior to 12/31/07. Along with the already low prices the condo fees are a tremendous savings. In the event you haven’t already visited my web-site you can access it by going to www.makaicondos.com. I think you will be pleasantly surprised. You can always reach me with questions or comments re: this blog at 800-992-7777,  410-603-2205 or bendawson@beachin.net. I look forward to hearing frm you.

When in Ocean City, drive carefully and cross only at marked cross walks.

Until next time.
