Well, here we are again going into our second season at the beach and it doesn’t appear that things have slowed down much at all. Just enough traffic to keep you on your toes, so be careful when out and about.
Weather is absolutely perfect today and should be sunny and into the mid 70’s until, and perhaps beyond Thursday. Can’t ask for much better than that. Plenty of rays for the sun worshipers, warm water for swimming and surfing, we’re having a great fish run and there are plenty of activities to suit everyone.
The “Wine Fest On The Beach” is going on until 7 pm tonight featuring Wineries from the Mid-Atlantic Region, Regional Micro Breweries, delicious Delmarva Cuisine and quality Arts and Crafts. You can also enjoy live entertainment with “Bird Dog and the Road Kings”, “Three Penny Opera”, and “The Pat O’Brennan Trio”. Now that’s entertainment! Identification required for the “Wine Fest”.
Paving has begun on Coastal Hwy and will continue through December. Phase one has started with the North bound lanes from 26th St. to 60th St. Please follow directinal signs in construction lanes. Our goal is to make your driving in Ocean City as comfortable as possible.
Next weekend appears to be on track for some super activities beginning with The 10th annual “Endless Summer Cruisin, 2007″ Car Show. The show will run from Thursday, Oct 4 through Sunday, Oct 7 with most activities downtown at the inlet parking lot. If you are into sportsters and roadsters, you wont want to miss this one.
The 26th annual “Octoberfest” and “Arts and Craft Fair” Will be at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center on October 5 from 11:30 am till 11:30 pm, October 6 from 11:00 am till 11:30 pm and October 7, from 11:00 am till 4:00 pm. Non-stop entertainment (German music of course), mouth watering German food, beverages and dance contests are on tap. There will also be a “Knockwurst” eating contest on Sunday at 1:30. Bring your appetite and dig in if you dare.
Assateague Island is another spot that should be on your “must do” list, especially this time of year. Fewer crowds on the white sandy beaches, better fishing from the surf, great shell hunting and of course the wild Assateague Ponies. A trip to the Island would not be complete without taking home a roll of photo’s of the wild, free roaming ponies. Although wild, they are always looking for that free handout. I must warn you however that feeding the ponies is not allowed and they will bite. Besides the ponies you will also see many timid Sikka Deer walking about. You can also find canoing and kayaking tours and other outdoor activities on the Island. Just follow the signs and/or the Island maps provided by the Park Rangers

As always I can’t quit without plugging the Makai Condominium (lowest priced new construction in Ocean City, MD.). Construction is coming along nicely and the building should be ready for move in towards the end of November. All of the furniture and equipment for the amenity floor (execize equipment, billiards tables, pool furniture, arcade games and general furniture) is already delivered or on order. We still are unable to get into the building with pedestrian traffic because of the site work (parking area) and some work going on in the building but I will keep you posted when we can again gain access. For the time, we are taking “Letters of Reservation” with a $1,000. fully refundable deposit. That will allow the Purchaser to reserve the unit desired at todays price with no obligation until the models can be previewed. We are about 1/3rd sold with many folks just waiting to see the models. Call 410-603-2205 or go to www.makaicondos.com for more information and virtual tours of the models. This is a building you will want to see, and the wait will be worth it.
Time to go again and as always. when visiting Ocean City, please drive carefully and cross only at marked crosswalks.
