Well, as we all know Fall is here but it seems more like the “dog days” of summer. What a beautiful day here in Ocean City, MD. and it appears that the entire weekend will provide perfect beach weather, sunny with temps in the high 70’s. This is the time for all you non O.C. residents to take advantage of what may be one of the last chances to breathe the salt air in “08″.

Not only will the weather delight you but the town has put together a terrific array of entertaining activities. Today through Sunday there will be plenty to entertain the entire family.

Today, 10/9 through 10/12 the “11th Annual Endless Summer Cruisin” will be featured at the Inlet Parking Lot as well as select areas around town. This hot rod car show will have over 1500 customs, muscle cars,  classics and more (don’t forget your camera). Live entertainment, a vendor midway, boardwalk parades and special attractions will be available from 9-5 Thursday through Saturday and 9-3 on Sunday. You can call 410-798-6304 for additional information.

Octoberfest will be held at the Ocean City Convention Center this weekend from Friday through Sunday. Eat, drink and be merry with schnitzels, wursts and Barrels of bier. Three full days of continuous entertainment including Jolly Joe & the Bavarians, the Pennsylvania Villagers, Enzian Volkstanzgruppe Dancers & more.  Hours are from  11:30-6 on Friday, 11:00-11:30 on Sat. and 11:00-4:00 on Sun.

Octoberfest in the traditional German style will be complimented by over 100 exibitors displaying holiday items, gifts, fine art & more. The exibition area will be open from 11:30-6:00 on Friday, 10:00-6:00 Saturday and 10:00-4:00 on Sunday. How’s that for a fun filled weekend? A small admission fee will get you into both events.
If that’s not enough, the boardwalk shops and arcades will be open and, of course, everything that the beach and ocean have to offer will be available. We’re getting close to the time when we start saying “wait til next year”. Don’t say those words any sooner than you have to.

The one attraction I failed to mention is the new Makai Condominium at 4201 Coastal Hwy (next to the O.C. Convention Center). Priced from $199,400 to $465,000, this very popular  high amenity bay front building features the lowest priced condo’s with the best new construction amenity package in town. Equipped with a bay front indoor tropical pool, billiards room, fitness center/sauna, children’s arcade, T.V. lounge, activity room and so much more,  the Makai offers the opportunity to enjoy a full or mini week getaway option for those folks who love the ocean during the off season. The Makai omits nothing that would prevent a pleasant stay even during that bad day at the beach. Did I forget to mention that the units are sold fully and decorator furnished and that the Sellers will allow you to settle now and make your mortgage payments for you until summer “09″? Just call 410-603-2205 for full details. Our models are open daily from 10-5pm with a full time professional staff ready to tour the building with you and address all your real estate needs. Hope to see you this weekend.

About time to quit but should first remind you that traffic in O.C. is still high so please drive carefully and remember to cross at marked cross walks only.

Until next time……………..

Anyone thinking about taking a weekend away from home before the weather changes? Why not Ocean City, MD.? The weatherman has given us a perfect forecast  for the next 3 days. Mostly sunny on Friday with a high of 72, mostly sunny on Saturday, high 72 and partly cloudy Sunday at 69 degrees. Can’t ask for much more than that.

Besides the Assateague Island State and National Park with its wild pony population and miles of pristine beaches and the many golf courses within minutes of the beach, Ocean City provides a wealth of activities for her residents and visitors alike.

Stroll the 2.5 mile boardwalk, take the kids to “Trimper’s rides”, enjoy a tub of “Thrasher’s Fries”, or just build a sand castle anywhere along our 8 miles of white sandy beach. There are just so many things to do in Ocean City, MD. during what the locals call “the second season”.

The “Free State Corvette Club” will be holding there annual rally in Ocean City this weekend (Friday and Saturday) with proceeds from this event benefiting  the Spina Bifida Association of Maryland. The association will be conducting 3 fun car shows, 2 road rallies and their famous boardwalk parade of cars. If you are a corvette enthusiast this is an event you wont want to miss.

For the numismatist (let’s just say coin collector or enthusiast) we will find “The Ocean City Maryland Convention Center Coin and Currency Show”. The show will be on Saturday and Sunday, Oct 4-5. There you will find many rare and valuable coins from the past. Buy, sell or trade will be available to all show goers.

The Makai Condominium at 4201 Coastal Hwy will also be open this weekend from 10-5 for tours of the new, furnished models and state of the art amenity floor providing an indoor year around tropical pool, billiards room, fitness center/spa, sauna, children’s arcade, T.V. lounge, activity room and so much more. Never a bad day in Ocean City at the Makai. These new condo’s are priced perfectly from $199,400. and most provide an ocean and/or bay view. A just released special incentive will allow you to buy a unit now and have the Sellers make your mortgage payments until summer “09″. Call 410-603-2205 for details. This is a building you should, at least, take a look at the next time you are in Ocean City.  I’m sure you will be glad you did. See you at the Makai!

Last but not least, remember that although the season is winding down it is always necessary to drive safely and to cross at marked cross walks only.

Until next time……….

Well folks, bike week has been here and gone for another year. For those of us that were in town, it was a bit noisy but never the less, it appears that all attendees had a great time.

The next 4 days are the most popular and fun filled days of the year here in Ocean City, SUN FEST. That’s right, the celebration that brings our summer season to an end opens today at the inlet parking lot.

If you haven’t been to Sun Fest in the past, you may want to consider spending a day or two or three taking it all in. There are 4 big top tents, housing a 2500 seat entertainment arena, 2 ultra large craft tents and a food tent. There is also an outdoor stage for musical entertainment and many other smaller vendor tents. Show hours are from 10-10 Thursday, Friday and Saturday and from 10-6 on Sunday.

The main attraction, of course, is the entertainment (mostly free) that runs almost non stop. The feature acts require an admission fee and are nightly at 8 pm in the entertainment tent. Thursday nights lineup is “The Platters”, “The Marvelettes” and Cornell Gunters “Coasters”. All three acts for one low price. Friday Night brings Country Star “Rodney Adkins ” to the stage and Saturday winds up with the Commodores.

The free shows feature “The Shades of Blue Orchestra”, “The Key West Band”, “Sir Rod”, “Jesse Garron’s Tribute to Elvis”, “Frankie & The Pack “, “J. R. Booker”, “Randy Lee Ashcraft”, “Recreation Line Dancers”, “Rick & The Allnigthers”, “Teenage Rust”, “Shore Jazz with Holly Lane”, “Red”, “Phillips Ragtime Band”, “Poole and The Gang”, “Lauren Glick Band”, “J.D. Henley and The Shore Broke Band”, “Mary Lou & The Untouchables”, “Bob Sima”, “Kevin Kline”, “Larzine”, and the “Gridlock Band”. Now, how does that sound for a free entertainment lineup?

Sun Fest will bring upwards of 250,000 people to the beach for the four day event. Make sure you are one of those. Please don’t stay home and wish you had come.

Again, I invite you to stop by Makai Condominium at 4201 Coastal Hwy, say hello to the staff and take a personalized tour of this top of the line and low priced building. You are guarenteed to be delighted by the workmanship, attention to detail, design, furnishings and of course one of the best amenity packages in Ocean City. By the way, the Sellers have just announced that you can settle today and they will make your mortgage payments for you until June 2009. You can go to www.makaicondos.com for an overview of the building or call 410-603-2205 with and questions.
There will be many people in town this weekend so drive carefully and be sure to cross at marked crosswalks only.

If you’re coming to the beach within the next 5 days, be sure to bring your ear plugs and a desire for fun, fun, fun. From tomorrow through Sunday we will be celebrating “Delmarva Bike Week”. That’s right,  a sea of motor cycles will be invading our little town  to participate in one of our end of season rituals.

The event runs from Thursday, 9/11 through Sunday 9/14/08. Activity hours are from 9 am to 9 pm, Thursday-Saturday and 9 am to 4 pm on Sunday. Besides the 100,000 + bikers and 200 vendors, there will be plenty of fun, games and free concerts.

Just some of the bands that will be entertaining are “The Bobby Friss Band”, “Laura Lee and The Trip Fabulous”, “Great Train Robbery”, “Stone Throw”,  “Crossroads Band”,  “Lost in Paris”, “Verdict”, “XXPosure”, “Power Play with Jim Long” and many more.

Other activities include “pudding wrestling?” American Motor Dromes Wall of Death, Mechanical Bull Riding Contests and much more.

For a complete schedule of events for the 4 days, go to the web-site at www.delmarvabikeweek.com.

Of course , if biking is not on your favorite things to do list, we still have some of the most popular attractions on the East Coast right here in Ocean City, MD. Fishing, crabbing, clamming, beautiful white sandy beaches, our 2.5 mile boardwalk, Assateague Island just 15 minutes away and did I forget to mention the second leading golf destination behind Myrtle Beach? So much to do and so little time.

The Makai Condominium at 4201 Coastal Hwy (next to the Ocean City Convention) is also becoming a destination for new construction condo buyers. Their affordably low prices and great amenity package  continues to make the Makai the best new construction buy in Ocean City.  How about buying a condo today and having your mortgage payments made for you until June 2009? Come enjoy beautiful sunsets, a tropical year around pool, billiards room, T.V. lounge, children’s arcade, fitness center, sauna  and so much more. Check out the web-site at www.makaicondos.com. You owe it to yourself!

Here we are again, another summer season rapidly winding down. Is it just me or has the summer come and gone in not much more than a blink of an eye?

Although the kids, for the most part, have already started back to school, Ocean City, Maryland still has a lot in store for us these next 30-60 days. Sooooo, don’t even think about hanging up the old fishing pole, boogie board or golf clubs and be sure to keep the jet skis well tuned. Beautiful fall weather and our second season is just around the corner.

This weekend’s activities include free concerts on the beach at Division Street (just bring your beach blanket or a chair and enjoy the fresh ocean air and great music) and the Labor Day Weekend Craft Festival held at the Convention Center.

The Beach Concerts  will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 30 and 31 at 8 pm. Saturday evening will feature “Dr. K’s Motown Revue” performing all the Motown Classics(a lot of oldies but goodies) and Sunday will bring “Separate Ways” and their Journey Tribute Show to the beach stage. Go early and stake your claim to some prime viewing and listening area sand.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday are the days you will want to start your early Christmas shopping. Some of the finest artists and Crafters from throughout the North East will be demonstrating their skills and selling  their creations.  You are sure to find that perfect, one of a kind,  gift for a special person. The show, held at the Ocean City Convention Center, will be open each day from 10 am to 5 pm. See you there.

Before going to or after leaving the Convention Center stop by theMakai Condominium next door at 4201 Coastal Hwy and take a quick tour of the finished product there. The brand new 96 unit condominium project will be dressed to the “T” for you. The indoor bay front tropical pool, billiards room, fitness center/sauna, Children’s arcade, T.V. lounge and activity room are just some of the amenities that make the Makai a building that one can say there is never a bad day in Ocean City at the Makai. Besides the great furniture package the Sellers are providing, ask how you can settle now and have your mortgage payments made for you until June 2009. You owe it to yourself to take 10-15 minutes and see one of the best values in new construction on the beach. Now is the time to make your dreams come true!

While you are here in Ocean City, we hope you have a great time but remember to drive carefully and to cross at marked crosswalks only.  We look forward to seeing you the next time.

Now that the summer tourist season is beginning to wind down, I think it is about time for me to get back to work. Not that I have been idle since my last beach update, just struck by a bit of  overworked summer lazyness.

This summer has been quite active  here in Ocean City with great weather for beaching, fishing or just lounging on the deck of ones favorite bayfront restaurant. All in all, the summer has been profitable for most of the O.C. merchants in spite of the  ultra-high gas prices.

On the other hand, the Real Estate Industry continues to look a little bleak throughout the country. The Makai condominium, however, seems to continue bringing buyers through the doors primarily because of the great price point for new construction,   but also because of the Makai’s top of the line amenities and full furniture package provided by Kendall Home Furnishings.

The Sellers are now, temporarily, offering to make Purchasers mortgage payments (principle and interest) through March 2009. Call or stop by the Makai at 4201 Coastal Hwy for full details. Telephone # is 410-603-2205. Just another attempt to make the Makai the best value on the beach.

Later this week I’ll update the O.C. activity events for the coming week. Until then, when in Ocean City please drive carefully and cross at marked crosswalks only.

We couldn’t have written a better script for this weekends weather here in Ocean City. This will be one of the better Memorial Day holidays (or at least as good) here at the beach in many years. Great weather + super visitors + plenty of activities for all ages = a successful weekend.

The next 2 days will provide plenty of activities and events to include, the “8th Annual Spring Arts and Crafts Show” at the Ocean City Convention Center. More than 100 vendors will be on hand to display, demonstrate and sell their wares. The “Delmarva Cat Connection” will also have cats and kittens available for adoption along with “Animal Rescue” who will have puppies for adoption. If you are considering getting a pet, why not look to adopt one? Orpaned puppies and kittens make great and loving companions. The Show will run from 10 am to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Looking for some live entertainment, try catching the Saturday night concert at the Convention Center where for a small admission fee you can see “The Little River Band” as they perform many of their hits including, “Lady”, “Cool Change”, “Reminiscing”, and many more. The show begins at 8 pm sharp. For ticket information, you can go to the convention center box office or call 410-289-8311. Hope to see you there.

Of course, the real attraction in Ocean City from Memorial Day to Labor Day is our 8 miles of warm white sandy beaches, 2.5 mile boardwalk, Thrashers Fries, Trimpers Rides and the many arcades and “T” shirt shops along the boards. If you are on a limited budget take in the O.C. Life Saving Museum at the South end of the boardwalk, cast a line off of the rocks at the inlet or just catch up on that preliminary summer tan. So much to do and so little time. This is what I have waited all winter for.

After or before the fun, stop in at the Makai on 42nd Street and the bay (next to the convention center) and say hello to the friendly knowledgeable staff there. They are always ready to provide a personal tour of the furnished models and the amenity package. Never a bad day at the Makai with so much to do in the building.

While in Ocean City, please drive carefully and remember to cross at marked crosswalks only’

Please have a safe, happy and fun filled Memorial Day. Fly or wear the Flag proudly and thank a VET if you see one.

Until next time………

Just a perfect spring day here in Ocean City today. All cleaned up after our “nor’easter” that did create a bit of minor damage to homes and businesses  (roof shingles, vinyl siding, banners, signs and a lot of sand on the boardwalk) but again, however, ready for a great weekend.

If you want to take a trip back to the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s, Ocean City is the place to be from today through Sunday. The town is hosting the annual “Cruisin’ Ocean City” car show. It is expected that some 6000 muscle cars, classics and hot rods will be coming to the beach for this event.

The show headquarters will be at the Ocean City Convention Center but you will find the cars throughout the town and at the Inlet parking lot. There will also be a boardwalk parade. Show hours at the Convention Center will 9 a.m to 5 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. You will also be able to see most of the cars as they travel up and down Coastal Hwy late into the evening. Make sure you take a jacket and a comfortable folding chair.

Don “Big Daddy” Garlits, one of the greatest drag racers of all time will be saying Hi and signing autographs at several different locations during the weekend.

Entertainment on tap for the show will feature “The Rip Cords” on Friday at 8 p.m. and “The Vogues” on Saturday at 8 p.m. Both shows will be opened by “Still Surfin” There will be an admission charge for all events. You can call 800-551-7328 for details and show costs.

There will also be sales and auctions, so if you are in the market for a classic, this will probably be the place to be. Although most of these folks are into the classics as a hobby (quite expensive I might add), I’m told that they can’t wait to take and show off their cars on a warm spring or summer weekend. The great draw for them is the fun and comradery that they look forward to.

So, if you do plan to come to the beach this weekend but are not particularly interested in hot rod cars, everything else the town has to offer is still available. Don’t deprive yourself by staying home, you’ll be sorry you did.

Don’t forget to stop by the Makai and say hello to the staff there and take a tour of one of the finest new construction (and lowest priced) condo’s in Ocean City. In the meantime you can always take a virtual tour by going to www.makaicondos.com.

Traffic is beginning to pick up so please drive carefully and remember to cross at marked crosswalks  only.

Well, here we are again, the town is taking a short, much needed, break to recover and clean up after a very successful Springfest. We saw record crowds attending this years event. Partly because of the warm spring weather and the great entertainment (almost continuous) over the 4 days. Approximately 114,000 attended this year and all seemed to go home happy. Facilities were upscaled this year to accommodate the expected larger attendance. Springfest is one of the most popular events of the year in Ocean City because it is viewed as a celebration of the beginning of our summer season. Sunshine Artists, America’s Premier Show and Festival Magazine, rated Springfest 11th on a list of 200 top arts and crafts festivals in the United States in 2008.

The next big event starts on Thursday, May 15 when we see the start up of “Cruizin’ Ocean City” which kicks off at the O.C. Convention Center and Inlet parking lot. If you are into cars, this is a must to see. Featured will be hot rods, customs, classics, street machines and muscle cars. There will also be a boardwalk parade, live entertainment, celebrity guests, special events and auctions. Come early and stay late. I’ll get more out on this one later.

Don’t write this weekend off however, because it’s the perfect opportunity to come to the beach, relax, start working on your summer tan, cast a line into the water, stroll the 2.4 mile boardwalk or take the kids to “Trimper’s Rides” for fun and games.

For those more interested in a bit of seclusion, there’s always Assateague Island, one of the premier State and National seashore parks in the country. You will enjoy the miles of private beach, great surf fishing (no license required) and of course don’t forget the camera. The wild ponies are always ready to pose for that memorable photo of your visit.

Since we are talking about main attractions, I invite you to stop by the Makai Condominium at 4201 Coastal Hwy and the bay, say Hi to one of the staff members there and receive a personal tour of the completed facilities. This building truely provides one of the finest amenity packages, some of the best views and certainly the lowest priced new construction in Ocean City. You will find the Makai next to the O.C. Convention Center. Hope to see you there. You can also go to www.makaicondos to get a full update of status as well as virtual tours.

While in Ocean City, please drive carefully and remember to cross at marked crosswalks only.

The days are getting longer, the air and water temps are rising and Springfest is winding down. Seems like we just started talking about the upcoming celebration and just like that it’s almost behind us.

Not to worry however, there is still one last opportunity for you to enjoy this years event. Although tomorrow is the last day for the 2008 festival, lots of fun things still remain to do and great entertainment on tap.  Plenty of hand crafted articles available for purchase,  the food tent is still cranking out a variety of  mouth watering delecasies and the entertainment is still almost non stop.

Entertainment on tap for tomorrow, in no particular order, will be Randy Lee Ashcraft and the Salt Water Cowboys, Big Leg Emma, The Delmarva Big Band, Captain Quint (Jimmy Buffett Tribute Band), The Adrian Duke Projek (blues, funk, R&B, jazz), The Funsters (variety), Sir Rod (Rod Stewart tribute) and Lollipop The Clown for the children. Something for the whole family!
When the show closes, you will still have time to stroll the boardwalk or sink your toes in the soft white sands on our beach.

You will also have enough time to stop by the Makai  Condominium at 42nd Street for a quick tour of the building. The brand new building is complete and ready for occupancy.
Prices remain unchanged and the units are still being sold fully furnished. Units with great ocean and/or bay views are still available and the amenity package is 7th or 8th best in all of Ocean City. Come see for yourself, you’ll be glad you did. If for some reason you are unable to visit the Makai this trip, take a stroll through the web-site at www.makaicondos.com.

Please drive carefully while in Ocean City and remember to cross at marked cross walks only.
